Spark your thanksgiving creativity with scratch!

Students coding

Hey there, young coders!

Thanksgiving is here, and as the delicious smell of turkey and pie fills the air make this holiday extra special with some awesome coding adventures using Scratch!

Looking for inspiration? Pop open your Chromebook or ask kindly if you can borrow a laptop and get started with these ideas.

Using an iPad or tablet and not a laptop? No problem! Go here to download the Scratch Junior app and see what you can make.

If you’re on a laptop or Chromebook:

1. Share the Scratch Fun

Thanksgiving is all about sharing, so why not introduce Scratch to a friend or family member? Team up with them to create a fun animation that you can show off to everyone online. Start with cool tutorials like Animate a Name and Make Music – they're super easy and perfect for helping beginners (also known as your older or younger relatives) learn to code.

2. Watch Hilarious Animations

Get ready for a giggle-fest! Scratch has loads of funny animations made by other kids. Watch quirky characters and hilarious stories that will make you laugh and give you cool ideas.

3. Play, Create, Repeat

Guess what? A special Thanksgiving Maze is waiting for you on our Free Activities page created by TinkerTech teacher Robin. Play the finished game here and then use the Base Code as a quick-start to create your own turkey maze adventure. Add extra levels, make it more exciting, and challenge your family to beat your score. Congratulations, Scratcher - you’re on the road to creating your very own video game – how awesome is that?
